Metro Vancouver Childcare Shortlist, a ParentKit site. Last updated 19 October 2026.
This site lists licensed childcare providers in Metro Vancouver from the BC Government’s open data. Families sign in, and the site’s owner approves each one. Once approved, a family can save a home address to see drive times, and keep notes on providers they call.
What’s saved
Your sign-in email and whether it’s been approved, your home address and its map position, the drive time from your home to each provider, your drive limit, your child’s birthday and start date if you enter them, and your stars, call statuses, notes and call-back dates.
Who can see it
Only you. Other families can’t see any of it. The site’s owner runs the database and could technically read it. It’s stored with Cloudflare, in western North America. When you sign up, the owner is emailed your address so they can approve you.
What other services receive
Sign-in is handled by Clerk, which keeps your account: your email address, plus your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google. The address you type goes to the BC Government’s address lookup. Your home’s map position and the providers’ positions go to OpenRouteService (HeiGIT, in Germany) to work out drive times. MapTiler supplies the map images and sees which area you’re viewing. If you sign in with Google or Apple, they know you signed in to this site; otherwise Google receives nothing unless you open a Google Maps link.
Nothing is sold or shared for advertising, and the site shows no ads.
Keeping or deleting it
It’s kept until you delete it. Once signed in, you can download a copy or delete all of it at any time from the “Your data” section at the bottom of the site. To close your sign-in account too, contact the person who invited you.
